Dr Faisal Hayat is a Medical Oncologist consulting at Maitland Private Hospital and a Staff Specialist in Medical Oncology at Calvary Mater Newcastle. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), having completed his specialist training in Medical Oncology in Australia.

Dr Hayat has a strong interest in clinical research, evolving cancer therapies and personalised cancer care. He is actively involved in the development and delivery of clinical trials at Calvary Mater Newcastle and is currently Principal Investigator on more than 10 clinical trials investigating new and emerging cancer treatments. His research has been presented at national and international oncology meetings, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in 2026 and the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG) Annual Scientific Meeting in 2023.

Dr Hayat has also served as Chair of the Melanoma Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Calvary Mater Newcastle. His clinical interests include melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies, gastrointestinal, breast and genitourinary cancers.

He is passionate about providing patient-centred, evidence-based cancer care and improving access to innovative treatments. He is a strong advocate for equitable access to clinical trials, particularly for patients from regional, First Nations and multicultural communities.
