Dr Gul is a staff specialist Geriatrician and General Physician at both John Hunter and the Maitland hospitals. He graduated from University of Health Sciences with Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery in 2007. After completing initial training at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. He moved to Newcastle for a better life style with the goal to become Specialist Physician. Dr Gul completed his physician training at both John Hunter and Calvary Mater Newcastle hospitals to obtain dual Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He is Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle and has published research in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Gul believes in the maintenance of function and wellbeing towards healthy ageing for those people whose medical issues may be impinging on their future independence and function. He has significant experience in diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders like dementia, delirium and management of challenging behaviours.
Dr Gul specialises in all aspects of Aged Care including falls, frailty, complex comorbidities, polypharmacy, perioperative care, Parkinson disease and Osteoporosis. His experience gained during Clinical diploma of Palliative Medicine provided him important insight in managing frailty by focussing on quality of life.
