Dr Julianne Burnton

Dr Burnton is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery. Dr Burnton obtained a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Melbourne University and then completed her post graduate medical degree at Sydney University with honours. She trained as an Orthopaedic Registrar through the Hunter New England network and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association in January 2021. Dr Burnton furthered her subspecialty hand and upper limb training at the Gold Coast University Hospital under internationally renowned surgeons including Dr Ezekiel Tan and Professor Randy Bindra.

Dr Burnton has presented research throughout Australia, most recently at the 2022 Australian Hand Surgical Society Meeting and the 2022 Shoulder and Elbow Surgical Society of Australia biannual meeting. She has won several awards including best Abstract at the 2019 Australian Orthopaedic Registrars Annual Scientific Meeting and best scientific paper at the 2019 Hunter Orthopaedic Meeting.

Dr Burnton is now based in the Hunter, and looks forward to servicing the shoulder, elbow and hand trauma needs of the region. Dr Burnton works in both Public and Private sectors and holds appointments at the new Maitland Hospital, Maitland Private Hospital, Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and Warners Bay Private Hospital.
