Dr Robinson leads the Mental Health unit, The Barrington Clinic, at Maitland Private Hospital. He is a Newcastle based psychiatrist with 40 years experience in general adult psychiatry, working extensively across both private practice and hospital practice. He graduated from Sydney University Medical School with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.) in 1978. Following an internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, he became Resident Medical Officer at The Royal Alice Spring Hospital.

In 1990, Dr Robinson obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry and accepted the role of Staff Psychiatrist with the James Fletcher Hospital, Newcastle. He joined the mental health unit at Lingard Private Hospital in 1992 eventually moving into private practice by 2007. Dr Robinson joined the Maitland Private Hospital team in 2013.

Dr Robinson is a long time member of the College’s Section of Forensic Psychiatry and is recognised as a ‘Forensic Psychiatrist’. He is highly experienced across all aspects of psychiatry, and has a special interest in recovery from addictions, diagnosing and treating personality disorders, as well as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma.
