Dr Avi Raman is a Urological Surgeon specialising in uro-oncology and stone disease. Originally from the UK, Dr Raman completed his medical degree in 2004 at the University of New South Wales and subsequently completed a Masters in Public Health. Dr Raman finished his surgical training and went on to complete Urological training in New South Wales. Following this, he was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as a Urologist.

Dr Raman recently completed a Fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital in London specialising in minimally invasive Renal Surgery. The Royal Free Hospital is one of the largest renal surgery units in the world. On completing his fellowship Dr Raman worked as a Renal Surgery Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital, before returning to Newcastle.

Dr Raman brings his extensive experience in endoscopic, robotic, laparoscopic and open urological surgery here to Newcastle and the Hunter area from November 2017. Dr Raman is a global teleconference specialist urologist for Medecins Sans Frontieres and is also on the editorial board of The Journal of Cancer Surgery having published extensively in both national and international medical and surgical journals.

Consulting at various locations in the area and on call for emergency urological surgery at the John Hunter Hospital, Maitland Private Hospital, and Lingard Private Hospital Dr Raman is readily available to discuss patients or give advice, and is easily contactable by phone or email.
